We have plenty of regular activities each week. These are normally run each week during semester, weather permitting. Keep an eye on the email list in case games get called off.
PICKUP GAMES
We play pickup games twice a week, both of them under lights.
Monday |
8pm - 10pm |
Oval #2 |
Wednesday |
7pm - 10pm |
Oval #1 |
Being pick-up games, you don't need a team - just come along. We often have a special beginners game too. Games are a very informal and friendly affair, so come along and join in. If you haven't thrown a disc before - don't worry! Each session begins with a warm-up where we throw the disc around, catch up on the latest happenings, and teach beginners the basics of frisbee.
If you're not sure where these ovals are, here's a link to a map of the university. The oval locations are:
Oval #2 |
E12 |
Oval #1 |
I15 |
Games are held every week during semester, unless the ovals are closed due to rain. If in doubt, you can check Newcastle-Ultimate (see email), or call the wet weather hotline (see hotline).
DISC GOLF
We may play ultimate frisbee, but we do enjoy other disc sports. Starting in
2001, we have established a disc golf course. Every Friday, you will see a group
of curious individuals throwing discs around trees, across bridges, and onto
tables at Jesmond Park. The course currently has 8 holes, with more planned.
Meet at Jesmond Park on most Friday afternoons at 2pm. A round of disc golf takes about 1 hour. See the map here for details.
BEACH GAMES
A semi-regular affair (more regular during the warmer months), is a game of
frisbee on the beach. Meet near the pavilion on Newcastle Beach at 2pm on
Sunday, and bring a towel!
OTHER ACTIVITIES
We hold many social activities throughout each year, including the annual
trivia night. There are also trips to many
tournaments. Details on
upcoming events will be posted on the News
page and on the Newcastle-Ultimate.
