Rule Changes

The World Flying Disc Federation updated the rules for ultimate frisbee on May 1st. As per AUS Sport Specific Rules, these updated rules will be used for the Australian University Championship - Ultimate Frisbee 2001.

You can find the new rules at http://www.wfdf.org/2001ultirules.htm. A copy highlighting the changes between the 2000 and 2001 versions is located at http://www.wfdf.org/2001ultirulesrev.htm.

Accommodation

A reminder to organise your team’s accommodation soon. The committee has been advised by the University’s Accommodation Unit that suitable accommodation is quickly becoming harder to find, due to other events in the city during the week of the Championships.

Uniforms

The issue of clashing uniforms has been raised with the committee. It is possible with a large number of teams, for 2 or more teams to wear uniforms of a similar or same colour. It is suggested that teams, which do not have a distinctive uniform, consider an alternative uniform, which may be worn when playing a team with the same primary uniform.

Other Information

Information regarding Newcastle, accommodation and transport was included in Circular 1. Copies of this are available on the University of Newcastle Ultimate Frisbee Club’s Championships web site (http://www.auc.nudiscs.com), or on the AUS web site (http://www.unisport.com.au/Downloads/Frisbee%20Circular%201.pdf).

Finally…

This is looking to be the largest AUC ever, with interest from 17 teams, including a representative team from New Zealand. With a successful EUC just held, the excitement is building for a great AUC 2001.
