Savage Sevens 2000
We've went, we saw, we got wet, and we survived. Savage Sevens 2000 was our first major tournament for the year. We didn't expect to make headlines (especially when playing against the Australian Men's and Women's teams), but to have some fun, and for many to experience our first tournament.
As in previous years, the tournament was held on the vast fields of Centennial Park, Sydney. I think we had too many people trying to organise the weather, which meant we went from driving rain with a strong wind one minute, to blue sky and sunshine the next.
There we two divisions this year - Opens (7 teams), and Mixed, with a minimum of 3 women (14 teams). Newcastle were fortunate to send a team for each division.
