14th January 2000

The following is a message from Will Mitchell:

Tim Bailey has agreed to do a weather report from Gore Hill oval. Date is
Wednesday 2nd February. We need to have players READY TO PLAY at 5:30pm.
This is the Wednesday before the final OneSummer event at Manly on 5/6 Feb.

Another good opportunity but only if/when we get a good turnout. Could all
uni students please come early on wed 2 feb and any workers who can make it
in time.

Cheers,

Will

It would be great if we could get some people to travel down to Sydney to support either the Gore Hill or OneSummer events. There is the chance of a pick-up game at Gore Hill, and several games over the 2 days at OneSummer. If you're interested, contact Matt Kelly.

9th January 2000.

Happy New Year! Just a couple of items from a summer of frisbee.

Nat Tonkin is is running a regular frisbee session. Meet on Friday nights at 6:30pm in King Edward Park. Contact Matthew Kelly for more details.

A group of Novacastrians went to the 1999 Longest Day Tournament on 19th December. Here is Nat's report:

Salutations to all,
Last Sunday, despite appalling wheather conditions, the "Longest Day Tournament" (A curious name as it wasn't on the longest day of the year) commenced. One of these teams included a roughly Novacastrian contingent. The Newcastle players were Philip Prior, Matt Kelly, Tania King, Nathanael Tonkin, and Melanie Long (unfortunately the latter two pulled out due to influenza). Ignoring all these set backs, the team not only faired well, they effectively won the competition, by winning all games, except for one wich was a draw. All this from a team that hadn't trained or familarized themselves with each others game. If this is any indication of the future for Ultimate Frisbee in Newcastle, then its a bright future indeed.
